Dental implants
An implant is a small titanium post placed in the jaw that works like a tooth root. A crown on top looks and feels like your own tooth.
- How long does it take?
- 2–3 visits over 3–6 months
- Does it hurt?
- Numbed; similar to having a tooth removed
- What about recovery?
- Mild swelling for a few days after the post is placed
You might need this if
- One or more missing teeth
- A loose bridge or denture you'd like to replace with something fixed
- Difficulty chewing because of gaps

What happens, step by step
- 1
Scan
A 3D scan checks the bone and plans the exact position.
- 2
Place the post
Under numbing, the post is placed in the jawbone.
- 3
Healing
Over 3–6 months, the bone bonds firmly to the post.
- 4
Fix the crown
A custom-made crown is attached on top.
After your treatment
Every mouth is different, so your dentist will give you advice for your own case.
- Eat soft food for the first few days
- Clean around the implant just like a natural tooth
- Keep regular check-ups to protect the gums and bone
