Cavity filling
A filling repairs a tooth with a cavity. We remove the decay and fill the space with tooth-coloured material that matches your tooth.
- How long does it take?
- 1 visit, 30–60 minutes
- Does it hurt?
- Numbed, so you feel pressure, not pain
- What about recovery?
- Eat normally once the numbness wears off
You might need this if
- Sensitivity to sweets, hot or cold
- A hole or dark spot on a tooth
- Food keeps getting stuck in one place

What happens, step by step
- 1
Numbing
A numbing gel, then a small injection, so you feel no pain.
- 2
Remove the decay
The soft, decayed part of the tooth is cleaned out.
- 3
Fill and shape
Tooth-coloured material goes in layers and is hardened with a blue light.
- 4
Check your bite
We polish and adjust the filling so your bite feels normal.
After your treatment
Every mouth is different, so your dentist will give you advice for your own case.
- Wait for the numbness to wear off before eating
- Mild sensitivity for a few days is normal
- Call us if your bite still feels high after a day
